Description
PDC drill bit (polycrystalline diamond compact drill bit) is mainly composed of steel body and polycrystalline diamond composite sheet. Polycrystalline diamond bit consists of a designed cast matrix head to which PDC inserts have been fixed. The surface of this disc-shaped cutting element consists of very fine synthetic diamond powders sintered together by high pressure and high temperature process. This diamond layer is supported by a tungsten carbide stud which is brazed directly into the bit matrix by a special process.
PDC core bits are ideal for use on high powered drills at relatively low rotation speeds. PDC bits have been used in soft to medium formation of hardness 3 to 6.

Application
This kind of PDC drill bits is specially used in drilling a variety of strata (formations) under 6th grade. PDC core bits are perfect substitutes of traditional carbide bits. Due to their good impact resistance, high efficiency and long lifespan, the PDC bits can be used to handle a wide range of complex-shaped formations. They are extensively used for geological prospecting in coal mine, gas drainage, discharging water, etc.

Category
1. The PDC bits have two types: steel-body type and matrix type. Steel-body type means that the polycrystalline diamond composite sheet is welded onto the steel body by silver soldering process, and it is quite applicable to drill bits with simple structures. Matrix type is the type that the polycrystalline diamond composite sheet is welded onto the powder matrix, and it is very suitable for drill bits with complex structure.
2. The PDC drill bits can be divided into coring type and non-coring type. This kind of bit not only has the same hardness and wear-resistance as the diamond, but also has tungsten carbide supporter to strengthen its abrasion resistance and impact resistance.
